The Baltimore Harbor Light is a three-story octagonal brick cottage constructed atop a 103-foot tall concrete and stone filled cast-iron caisson. The main deck of the cottage houses a sitting room, a storage area, a hallway and the galley. The second deck holds keeper's quarters (two bedrooms.) The third deck is a large open space, known as the watch room. Windows face North, South, East and West, providing a 360-degree view. Atop the watch room, sits the lantern room. Connecting these levels is a spiral staircase that leads from the lantern room to the cellar floor, ten feet into the caisson.
The Future of the Baltimore Light
Owning a lighthouse is no easy task. As stewards of such an iconic piece of history we don't take it lightly. Our immediate focus is on making necessary repairs for safety, function and preservation.
Baltimore Harbor Light is available for tours and events on a limited, case by case basis.
Being private owners, we rely on our fans and donors to help us continue our efforts. If you'd like to learn how you can help, visit the Support Our Mission page.
